DEADSY's 'Phantasmagore' Makes Its Mark
August 31, 2006DEADSY's triumphant return, "Phantasmagore", was released August 22 on Elementree/Immortal Records, with first-week sales totaling just under 4,500, placing them at No. 176 on The Billboard 200 chart.
The band is currently offering its brand of synth-heavy goth-rock on the Family Values Tour and recently made an appearance at Lollapalooza. With a heavy tour schedule in place, DEADSY found a minute to play a sold-out record release show in their hometown, Los Angeles. While home, singer Elijah Blue stopped by Indie 103.1, specifically Steve Jones' regarded "Jonesy's Jukebox" show, and performed a stunning acoustic version of "Carrying Over". He then quickly jetted to New York City to spend some time on-air with Howard Stern, where he opened his personal Pandora's Box.
"Phantasmagore" is DEADSY's genre-defying sophomore LP, following 2002's "Commencement". A mutant synthesis of late '70s post-punk and cosmic stoner rock, this band has always been ahead of its time. As the LA Weekly recently observed, "The synth-driven death pop is still intact... but leader Elijah Blue's writing has gotten confessional."
